Causes of false knock

I'm getting 1-7* of knock retard under normal acceleration, what are all of the possible causes of false knock? I don't have access to race gas, so I can't really test if it's real. I checked my exhaust and there's plenty of clearance everywhere between it and the under side of the car.

I also noticed while in park, if I gradually step on the gas very slowly, I don't get any knock retard, but when I blip the throttle real quick, it jumps up to 3* or so.

Anyway, bottom line, where should I begin to look? I have a scanner so I can watch all sorts of fun sensors on my car.

your mom and a midget in the back seat.

j/k

I would guess it is your headers, that is what typically causes false knock.

Re: Causes of false knock

I've had my headers for 4 years now and the knock just started in the past year, I haven't changed anything either. Why would the headers just have started to cause false knock?

Bad gas, low octane.

Wrong pushrod length. I had quite a bit of knock also. Got the right length pushrods and no more knock at all. But if you haven't done any internal engine work, that's probably not it.

Re: Causes of false knock

Nevermind about the headers then...

Maybe the knock module is just loose... tighten it down. Or it could be faulty.
