Question Heater Hose

Hi,

I was wondering if I am able to replace the hose shown in the picture below without replacing the whole thing? Thank you for your help.

Re: Heater Hose

Yes, but it is a hassle.

The aluminum collar is swaged around the hose clamping the hose to the short section of hard line.

You have to use a hawsaw or dremel to careful cut through one side of the aluminum collar. You have to stop when you hit rubber. Any further and you will cut the hard line. Cut the slit about 7/8 of the length of the collar and leave the shoulder of the collar intact. Take a wide flat blade screw driver put it in the slot you cut and twist, this will break the should of the collar and you will be able to bend it open and take it off the hose. Repeat as needed to get the hose free.

Most of the hoses are formed pieces. You can buy the sections from autoparts stores or do what I did and get the Goodyear High Miler kit. The goodyear kit is missing one of the lower heater hoses so you will need some 3/4" heater hose to replace it.

Use standard small hose clamps to put the new hoses on.

It is a hassle, and takes some time, but not hard unless you get into the rest of the heater hoses, major hassle. The one you are working on is easy.

Word of warning if that one let go, all should be replaced. That could take a couple of days.
