Which cats can you delete

I have a 96 camaro with the lt1 and 4l60e. It has the dual cats obviously. I was wondering which cats you can tune out? Can both be deleted or just the fronts? Or is better to delete one and leave the other? I plan on installing kooks long tubes and want to get rid of the cats or cat. I just don't want to cause myself any issues and don't want any engine lights. Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Unless you're doing some extreme modifications you only want the rears tuned out.

Cats? Or O2 sensors?

You have one cat on the left bank exhaust, and one cat on the right bank of the exhaust. They are not in "series", one after the other. You either delete both (non-emissions compliant - requires "tuning out the after-cat O2 sensors) or you keep both. You can't just delete the cat on one bank of the engine and leave the other.

You don't tune out/delete cats, you remove the catalytic converters and tune out / delete the rear 02 sensors. You'll still want to run the front o2 sensors that go in the headers/manifolds.

Thanks for the replys. So as long as I run the front two o2 sensors I can remove the cats and tune out the rear o2?

We deleted both cats and all o2 sensors after header install. I noticed you said to keep front o2 sensors. Can you explain why please, thanks for the help.

You must have the front sensors for the PCM to calculate fueling needs. It is an essential part of computer control.
