Question catalytic converter problem?

I have a 96 z28. About 9 months ago i added mac headers and a y-pipe with cats to my borla exhaust system. After about 3-4 months it threw a code and i'd been driving on it until this past saturday when i went to my mechanic who directed me to a muffler shop around the corner because he said my 02 sensor behing the second cat was tripping. The guy at the shop said he couldn't find any exhaust leaks and he suggested that the computer didn't like my aftermarket catalytic converters.

Is it possible that my mac catalytic converters are what is causing the cpu to throw a code? If so why is it doing that? and how do i fix it? Also is it bad for any part of my car if i just drive around with the service engine soon light on? Can i reprogram my computer to eliminate this problem?

Thanks in advance for all your help guys. Any suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated.
