Catalytic converter install help needed.....

I have purchased a universal fit Magnaflow catalytic converter for install with my new headers.
This new catalytic converter does not have the rectangular rear mount like the one welded on the rear of the OEM part. I really dont think this mount can be cut off and welded on the new.

I dont want to purchase a direct fit catalytic converter because you will pay a fortune for the OEM y-pipe which I dont need.

My question is can the new part be installed without the rear side mount that attaches it to the transmision?
Is there another solution? Im sure you guys are using universal catalytic converters and not OEM's

Please dont post replies to just eliminate the catalytic converter , I dont want the raspy sound and stinky smell.
Thanks

I had a Magnaflow converter on before I eventually put a pipe through the cat.. I took the converter to an exhaust shop and they fit it in by cutting off the old converter right at that flange and welding the new cat up... They left the square hanger/flange and just welded really close to it... It needed a short piece of 3" pipe in the front of the converter I believe to have it fit because it was too short.. But it fit.

Any exhaust shop can solve it for you.
