my friend has a 97 z28 and the service engine light is on, they took it in and the guy said it was the cat converter. my friend says the car smells like gas and has no power do you think it is really the cat converter or something else. has anyone else posted threads on this maybe that year has problems with this

 

When I had my v6, I had a clogged cat. I didnt get any power, but I also didnt smell gas. Could be the cat.
