Re: Cat Delete

Removing the cats will make your car louder and sound more agressive.

Re: Cat Delete

Removal of the cat made my 95 Z28 MUCH louder as well as 'better' sounding.
With the 2 chamber Flowmaster, it is just short of a NASCAR sound.
I can barely tolerate it in daily driving though.

Re: Cat Delete

I don't have cats on my 95 and it sounds great, no raspy sound either, made a good difference in horsepower too.

Re: Cat Delete

Kind of a simple ?, kind of a simple answer. It will get more attention and be louder. You will hear more engine noise, and when you let off after heavy acceleration it will basically fart. The pitch is cackly and not so deep and throaty. I dont know, it sounds OK. I had a gutted cat and a flowmaster muffer on before, sounded OK. Give a 26$ dollar cutout before the cat a try.

Re: Cat Delete

Alright, well i'm looking for a nice deep tone but I want it to be modestly loud too, any ideas on what setup I would need for that.

Re: Cat Delete

I have a straight pipe instead of a cat on mine and a flowmaster muffler that came on my car when I bought it. I like the raspy sound, it sounds like a monster to me. To give you an example of how loud it sounds with my setup: I went to my friends house yesterday and reved it up before I came up to his house and he thought the cops were flying over in a helicopter looking for pot (very common around here being in the woods of WV). If I go with the windows down it gets hard to hear other people in the car talking normally. I really like the sound myself. If you like raspy sound, a flowmaster and no cat do that really well.

Re: Cat Delete

straight pipe instead of cats but stock exhaust past that, just tips. sounds really loud and does have a cackly sound to it, especially in deceleration. i like it though, if you have to give a ride to someone you don't like just roll the windows down and pretend you can't hear them haha
