Cat Cut-Out on a 94 T/A???
Cat Cut-Out on a 94 T/A???
I was told that on 95-97 OBDII cars have a problem with pullin codes after they replace the cat with a straight pipe. I got a 94 with a OBDI and this is the last free mod that could do before I gotta spend some $$$. It loos like I have to weld it in, Is that the only way I can do it?? Will clamps do the trick untill I can get the pipe welded to the flange properly. should I leave the cat intact after pullin it just incase I ever need it??
Thanks for any info you can give, Ya'll

OBDII has 4 O2 sensors. The two before the cats control the AF ratio when the car is warm, and the two after the cats just monitor the cats efficiency. That is why they throw codes and your OBDI car with only the 2 O2 sensors won't.
93-95 cars don't have a problem if you ditch the cat. Why are you pulling it off in the first place? If you are looking for the extra hp i don't think you will be happy because i had no noticeable SOTP feel when i ditched my cat. Just to let you know after 1.5 yrs of stinking, polluting the environment, and rumbling my car apart i just bought a stock cat to put back on my car.
