Cars running rich. Why?

I checked the plugs today and they were jet black. After the headers went in the car lost power, it won't spin them on a 1 - 2 shift anymore . I was wondering what the problem might be? The bolts are tight and there dosn't seem to be any leaks although i am useing cheap paper gaskets.

How do you check them? You mean remove them?

If you have a good bit of miles on them, or you don't know how old they are then you should replace them. Go with the stock ones. Around $100 for the two you need. I found the ones I'm getting at www.lakechevrolet.com or I'll try to get ahold of Jason Cromer.

I think i'm going to do that, first though i'm gonna try to just disconnect them and see if that helps out at all. I was wondering though, when I had the exhaust tack welded together I had them make O2 extensions. The extensions were from the O2's to the PCM, not an extension of the pcm wires. Could that cause it?

o2 sensors are 70+shipping at gmpartsdirect.com
shipping from them is a little expensive, so it'll probably be about 15 bucks.

p/n 25312184

edit: that's 70 for both of them

$85 shipped isn't bad at all. That is the two in the y pipe area right? I might just order mine from them becaue one day my Jet-Hot macs will get here. And if the extensions were not properly installed YES that could cause it. Absolutley.

So for now do I need to clean the plugs? Or will it go away on its own when it leans out. I've heard carbon plugs can cause a misfire.

If they are out then it wouldn't hurt to clean them, but if not I would think a good ol Seafoam treatment would help set things right when you have located the prob.
