Spark Plugs

I need to get some new plugs and wires. Which ones to get? cost? And how hard are the plugs and wires to change? I have not done them on my Z before. I remember on my 96 3.8L they were a hassle cuz i had to get under the car and take off the exhaust and blah.... Thanks yo

there pretty hard if you have stock manifolds but allot easier with most headers. just do one by one.

stock replacement wires and stock sparks. if you have to go with aftermarket, carquest wires and delco plat plugs (delcos are OEM)

Another vote for the NGK TR55's. I also have the Taylor Spiral Pro wires. Great combo and not too expensive. They plug access is crappy if you still have the stock manifolds.

TR55s are the way to go, and if your not use to changing plugs/wires in our cars be ready because it's gonna be a real PITA.

every1 here will tell you stock wires with NGk-TR55 plugs.

The mechanic told me that i should stick with with stock ACdelco plugs and not go with any other afermarket 1s. He said they create problems. i dunno cuz i never got it done though.
(prob ACDelco platinum plugs will be good)

If you're going to get platinums, don't get AC Delco's. Do some searches, there are tons of posts from folks like me who've had the little platinum pucks disappear after a few thousand miles. Once the puck is gone, the gap is off and just where does that puck go? Somewhere in the engine. Very nice - and they're $5 and change per plug (here anyway). I've had the $2 Bosch platinums (not +anything) for a year and a half now. They're doing a great job. More importantly, I don't have to worry about whether parts of them disappearing in the cylinders.

For just about every other stock replacement part, AC Delco is the way to go.. but at least consider some alternatives for the plugs.

NGK TR55 High-temp wires, your choise, don't get too cheap on them. If you have proper tools - easy to do. Much less crawling under car then with 3.8

Hey man, if you ever plan on doing headers... might as well go with an OVC (Over the Valve Cover plug wires) kit now and get it done with... Its less than $100 from thunderracing.com, or you can piece together your own from jegs. Also I have heard nothing but great things about the NGK TR 55r plugs from lots of people, thats what I plan on running soon..

Good luck...

I just installed Taylo Spiral Pros (8mm) and they fit fine in the stock routing retainers. I used the Bosch Platinum 4 plugs because they worked so well in my Blazer. Had this setup for about a week now and it made a nice difference.
