Carbureted LT1
Carbureted LT1
Ok, have you all seen the intake manifold from GM perf. parts? The one that accepts Holley and Q-Jet carbs.. and has "longer runners so you can get increased engine torque by 30 ft.-lbs. withought sacrificing top end power" and is specifically for LT1's? Well, my questions are "will a regular 350 intake manifold bolt up to the LT1 heads?", and "is this one worth the $259.95?"
does anyone know what kind of horsepower and torque difference a carb. LT1 would have compared to a Fuel Injected one?-given that a good quality carb is used FWHP or estimated RWHP
I am asking because I own a 95 z28 parts car that has a LT1 with 120,xxx on the clock and my step-father has his mind on transplanting that into a 1967 Camaro RS.! The engine will probably stay as stock as it is and be put on the ground VIA a 4-speed tranny and 10 bolt posi. WOULD YOU JUST BUY THE $600-$700 PAINLESS HARNESS AND VIRTURALLY "PLUG AND PLAY" OR SLAP ON A CARBURETER AND GET RID OF ALL THE SMOG STUFF AND SENSORS?

I cant give you hp estimates, but I say if you have a laptop available, and dont mind spending for the painless harness, go with that. And get rid of all the smog stuff anyways :P Although you are killing the traditional carb look for the car, fuel injection will help your gas mileage, and is more fun to tune.
