Car wont start, dead battery?
Hey, well i took my car out of my garage for the first time today, and had it running, turned it off to go do something, and when i came back to start it, it wont go, doesnt even turn over. When i turn the key the lights/guages flick on and off really fast. WTF! i have never seen a problem like that before in my life. I am thinking dead battery because i had to boost it to get it to start. I ran it for a few minutes to try and charge the battery enough to start it. It doesnt even attempt to turn it over at all. I am just wondering what you guys think before i go and look at it tomorrow night. Thanks in advance.
But it makes no sound, like a typical starter clicking or anything, I was thinking starter too but it was working fine, and then just dies for no reason. But anyways doesnt a starter usually make some sort of noise when it dies? There is no noise at all from the engine bay. All i get is the fuel pump and the lights coming on/off.

boost the car and check to see if the alternator is working, should measure at least 13 Vdc, at the battery terminals, if it is, the battery is no good. if not its probably the wiring or alternator
You can't charge a dead battery by running the car. If you don't use a battery, you lose a battery. If your battery is even close to it's life expectancy it probably needs replacing.
No 1 problem is usually a bad battery. No 2 is bad connections.
I suggest that you just buy a new "good quality" battery. JMHO

I found the reason my battery kept dying on me.The glovebox light was staying on all the time.My hinge on the glovebox has been broken for a couple of years and I noticed the light keeps on while it is in closed position. So I took the bulb out and problem is fixed.I just thought that could be the reason your battery went complely dead on you.
