car wont start after heads and cam install

i just installed le2 heads and cam on my car with a ED timing set. car wont start. is it possible that i installed the timing gears wrong? the heads were off when i did this. #6 cyl was at tdc (so was #1) when i aligned the timing marks before i took out my old gears and cam. put new cam in, gears went on with chain no problem with notches aligned and cam dowl pin at 3 o clock. also when i put in the opti, on the back i had the larger hole for the dowl pin set at the #6 mark on the housing. it went on fine, it sit flush to the timing cover, but there was a problem where i had to take it off and put it back on again and it would not sit exactley flush the second time.

after cranking and cranking it would try to start once or twice and i had a little intake back fire. then later on i tried again and gave it a little gas while i was cranking and it started for like 4 or 5 seconds with my foot on the gas but as soon as i let go of the gas she died and didnot want to fire back up. it also sounds like the starter is having a hard time when its cranking. also new starter.

opti is not new but i did not have any problems with the car before the install new plugs and wires are 1 year old msd's all wires and connections are tight

the car is going to my mechanic friday or sat but i want to double check everything before he gets the car TIA

how did you set the lifters? and did you turn the crank with a wrench to make sure the dots lined up after a couple revolutions?

UPDATE. i wanted to make sure i put the opti in right and as soon as i unbolted it from the timing cover it pushed back about a quarter inch. i may have installed it wrong so when i put it back in it sit straight and flush to the timing cover and i also pulled my coil wire and the end was broken off on the terminal in the opti. changed coil wire and got piece off terminal and she fired right up.

i had the thing running for a few seconds when everythign was together. car sounds awsome with open lt headers and le2 setup . ill try and get a video soon.

Thats what i was gonna suggest. My car wouldn't start after my new motor. I swore up and down it wasn't the opti. I checked everything except that. In the end, it was the opti one hole off.
