Car Won't Start After Air Bag Removal

I removed my air bags and put most of the dash back together. When I tried to start the car it would just click so I'm assuming it is because of the air bags since the car started fine prior to the removal of the air bags. The dash lights come on, the starter is good, and the battery is charged. Hell, the radio even works. The car just won't start. I know I probably did something wrong during the removal so I took some pics of what I did to remove the passenger air bag. Please let me know what I need to do. BTW, I'm fixing to send my PCM off to get programmed by madz28 so I may need him to do something regarding this problem.

The cut wires are from the black box that was attached to the air bag bracket.

PS: My new RK Sport white face gauges are acting weird also. When I turned the key to the "on" position the Tach needle went to 5000 RPM and the speedo went to like 80 MPH, or almost straight up. The others looked fine but those two didn't. There weren't any instructions with the gauges so I don't know if I installed them incorrectly or not. Also, when I turned the key off the two needles stayed where they were and I had to tap repeatedly on the clear plastic cover to get them to go down.
Thanks and sorry for the length,
FLeX

could be something to do with the security system. Will the key come out of the ignition. When i got my car the airbags had been blown and we had some issues getting the car to start until we figured out how to turn the system off.

Just the SES, Check Gauges, and fasten seatbelt lights come on. Here are some pics.

With ignition on, car not running:

With ignition off after about 1 minute:

EDIT: The key comes out of the ignition just fine. The car has been wrecked and when the people I bought it back from fixed the car, they didn't re-connect the air bags so I took them out. As I stated earlier, the car ran beautifully before I took the air bags out. I heard something somewhere about having to get the VATS programmed out so that the injectors would fire.

I have the feeling that you hacked out your VATS module.

Re: Car Won't Start After Air Bag Removal

I did this just last week and had the same problem. The security light will not come on at all if the module was removed. It is a little black box that is attached to the side of the passenger airbag bracket with 2 screws. I put that back in and the car still would not start. I noticed that there is a light grey relay also attached to the passenger airbag bracket, not sure what it controls exactly but I plugged it back into the harness where it came out and the car started right up. These two items must be removed from the airbag bracket and re-installed. I removed them thinking they were just some of the SIR system. My car is a 94 Z28 by the way, not sure what year yours is but I bet its got the same SIR system.

Was it the gray relay in my pics? If so, I don't think that it connects to anything electronically.

What do you mean "is it the gray relay"? The relay is still there. Where was that relay mounted?

Based on what I can see of the wire colors that are cut, you cut out the the VATS module-oops. Hope you left some wire on the other end.

Is there a reason you are cutting out things under your dash without consulting any wiring diagrams?

Yes, I like to make things as complicated for myself as possible, it seems. So will programming the VATS out fix this problem? That little module, I believe, was mounted to the air bag bracket. Thanks again and sorry for my ignorance,

Can madz28 program for the removal of the VATS so that my car will run normally? Criticism is good to an extent but what's done is done. Now I need help to fix my stupid mistake.

That black box is not something you should remove , thats your entire problem. Now you'll have to ditch VATS entirely.

I'm okay with that as long as it doesn't screw anything up other than the air bags, which are no longer there after several pissed off hours of labor. The main reason I cut it off is because I was pissed and my arms and fingers are not small/skinny enough to disconnect the SOB. My wire cutters fit in there just fine though
