car won't start; possible fuel pump problem?

the other day my car ran out of gas and now it wont start back up. When i turn the key on now, I don't hear the pump come on! I've jumpered the prime wire under the hood and it still doesn't come on. I have my Haynes manual and it says to check the fuel pump fuse in the fuse box on the side of the dash; but there is no fuse that says it's for the fuel pump! Am I just illiterate or is it not there? Please help! I'm getting ready to start punching myself in the nuts soon!

There should be a fuel pump relay under the left footrest area in the interior. That can keep a fuel pump from turning on. Much easier to replace than the pump too.

If there is nothing wrong with the wiring to the pump, jumping the prime connector wire bypasses the relay (only on pre-96). You might want to prove that the wiring is good by checking it at the connector under the car by the fuel filter. Make sure power is getting there on the grey wire when the key is first turned ON or the connector is jumpered. Also check the ground wire.

When you say "don't start" do you mean "no crank" or "no start"? The reason is that make sure it is a fuel concern by squirting a short burst of starter fluid in the intake... if it runs for a sec, then you confirmed it is a fuel issue. Yes, you should hear a fuel priming pulse at Key On. But you may have multiple concerns...
