car will die then turn back on

Generally happens when i'm driving.. but atleast everyday when i start driving my car will cut off for maybe 1 second then turn back on..generally i let off the gas pedal then lightly hit step on the pedal..

I didn't drive the car alot in the winter due to a bad transmission and didn't start it up unless i drove it. I'm thinking there may be water build up in the tank so i've been using items like Heet and one lucas oil product..cant remember the name. I'm just pretty much wondering if this is water, what is the easiest way to get it out of the tank?

Have you scanned it for codes? If the PCM loses the Opti cam position sensor low res pulse, it shuts down the fuel system. May be an intermittent problem or a corroded or damaged Opti harness connector. Look for DTC 16 - does not turn on the SES light.

Or could be an intermittent problem with the ignition switch. Shoebox has a troubleshooting page:

You can get free scan software, then buy a cable to hook up a laptop:

Or find a used Auto Xray OBD-I scanner (not a cheapie that shorts the pins - won't work on a 94 or newer).
