Car totally loses power all of a sudden, please assist

So I commute to school and I was driving up route 1 at about 2k rpms in 5th gear. I felt a very quick sputter twice and that was it. Then all of a sudden I tip my foot into the throttle and nothing is there at all. I immediately put the clutch in (engine immediately died) and I pulled the car over. I tried to start it and it would just crank but not fire. I waited and checked under the hood, nothing looked out of the ordinary. I then tried to start it again and it fired right up with no problem. Next, I drove it a bit more and it died again around the same rpm. I waited again and it fire right back up again....I drove it back to a gas station I know, keeping the rpms above 2500 and it ran perfectly fine as it did before the incidents. The drive to the gas station was prob 3/4 what I had traveled before the first problem. So, my guages are all normal, coolant temp is around 170, fuel pressure 38-40psi as normal, oil over 40 psi when driving like normal......so i dont know.

I had the computer scanned and one thing stood out...my car is running in open loop with the temp reading of -42 degrees. I dont know if my tuner did this to keep it cool or the sensor is screwed and is dumping in a ton of fuel all of a sudden. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. By the way, the car ran perfect through the bad weather this week, and today was the best of the week so Im pretty sure the opti didnt get wet.

Check your coil & especially the coil wire...they tend to get a white build-up on the contacts that can cause it to die without warning.

In general, you could also check your grounds on the passenger side fenderwell also.

Are you running an aftermarket ignition box (MSD, Crane, etc). It's not uncommon for these to have issues killing your ignition. If you have one, by-pass it and see if the problem goes away.

I don't think your tuner fool with the temp sensor (if he actually could). Check with him and then fix your sensor problem.

I'm still running a totally stock ignition. The crank sensor and temp sensor have both been replaced and the temp is still reading the same by the computer. The search continues lol.

You will get -42degF with an open circuit on the coolant temp sensor (infinite resistance). Check the wiring. That is your problem. I can't think of any reason a tuner would set the coolant temp to 42-degrees below zero
