Car still won't start, can't be Opti, can it?
Getting worse again....
Crap, I spoke too soon. After it started 5 times on the first crank last night I was convinced it was better. Until I tried to start it today.
Same problem, still wouldn't start. Checked the fuses and fuel pumps again, both humming away. I got it started eventually, after which it was easier to start for about 4-5 tries, then it wouldn't start again. Once I DID get it running, I took it for a spin around the block, what a dog. No power at all, it felt like I had the brakes on the whole time. Sharp contrast to yesterday, when it would rev hard.
At this point I start thinking maybe there IS a fuel problem, so I swing by Kragens (in another car) and grab a fuel pressure gauge. Key on I get 45 PSI at the test port, of course it started right up on the next test, but I had 39 PSI at idle.
The weird thing is, when I disconnected my nitrous line from the test port, the gas that spilled on my hand wasn't just warm, it was damn near boiling! I yanked my hand away until the gas was done spewing out.
Could a pump be bad yet still supply pressure, but no volume? This is about the only way I could figure the gas could get THAT hot. As I mentioned earlier, the stock fuel pump hums away nicely without the MSD inline on.
Also, when I hit the pressure release on the gauge the gas just "oozed" out of the relief tube, I figured it would squirt across the yard!
Once it stops raining I can remove the MSD inline pump from the equation and bypass it near the filter, but I'd love to hear anybnody's thoughts on this.
Thanks,
Chris

Ok, I just went back out and ran the relief line into a clear jar and ran the fuel system with the valve open, shoots gas about two feet, and it's cool in temperature. Must have just been the gas in the line to the fuel solenoid was hot from sitting.
Incidentally, there's no water in the gas.
Anything else I should check? I'm about to just take it to a mechanic or something.

I hope you find the problem soon because I'm in the same situation minus the inline pump. By the way what is a IP dimmer? Might give that a try and see what it does for me.
Thanks and as I said hope you find the problem soon!

Few things to look for
Since you NOS, and Added Pump, and MSD'd your car You need to look at three things.
#1 Vacuum leaks
#2 Spark Plug Wires and boots. any moisture will arc out the boot and send your spark everywhere but to the cyclinder. Good test is to go thru your injector connectors pulling them one at a time with the Car running. If you find one that is not making the Car run worse, you need to trace the spark circuit for the corresponding cylinder
#3 Check Fuel Pressure
Well, the fuel pressure was fine (see above) and the wires are brand new, so it's not that. No vacuum leaks that I could find, I used a propane tank to look last week.
Dealer said the cats aren't clogged, and they suspect the Opti. Apparently everything appears to be fine, but when they put it on a scanner and give it gas, the needle "doesn't snap up like it's supposed to, it just crawls across the gauge." I'm calling the dealer where I bought it to see if I have any recourse.

Well my friend help me track down my problem. Brand new coil went poof! So I stuck my old accel back on and I'm back on the road. May want to double check your coil for giggles. Mine new Accel lasted 6 days. Go figure.
Good luck man because I know how it feels tracking gremlins.

Yeah, I had that tested, it puts out a solid 40,000 volts so that's ok, I even changed the forward O2 Sensors (wow what a pain!) to no avail.
It looks like it's the Opti, but I don't have a garage to change it in. Anybody in Napa want to change it out in their garage? I'll give ya $200!
Ok, well it was worth a try.
