Car still over heating
OK this is really pizzing me off... Before i had the stock 180 degree stat and it was over heating and coming out of the over fill, Im thinking the stat got stuck closed.. Well i go out and buy a 160 stat and fill i back up with antifreeze.... Well it ran great for 2 weeks with no prob, 200 degree was the max the temp got with the new stat.... Today im out driving and now my damn car over heated again and anti freeze coming out of the over fill again, so i pull the connector off the MAF so the fans would stay on...
Well i went to got some anti freeze, the car was cool enough to fill it up... The car took 2 containers of anti freeze
... Is this a sign of a water pump going??? There is no water getting into the oil.
What the heck is going on??? I think FORD is calling my name, I'm the only Chevy guy in my family and the rest are FORD

check your oil...is it a color other than black??? also your fans might not be turning on..check to see if the fuseable link is burned..then check the wheep hole at the bottom of the H20 pump...is there coolant around it??? maybe you have a hole in a hose or ur leaking somewhere. The best thing to do is go check all the hoses for holes and connections, then check the water pump see if the wheep hole is wet or stained with coolant...then check the fan wiring...hope this helps.

Well the fans do work, when the AC works, or when i pull the maf connector out and work while it gets hot...
I checked for leaks and didnt find any, theres no staing or any wetness un the bottom of the pump either

Try some radiator flush to get some of that crap you got in there out... they make 2, super flush and the regular one... the regular one does not work for crap... get the super radiator flush... I put it in my car and the temperture is about 35% colder than it was when i bought it. It used to run toward the top line, after that it runs on the second line from the bottom and colder.
Im stumped... maybe go for a meziere water pump? Maybe if you scaned it, it might be able to tell you whats wrong.. a sensor maybe... there are i think 2 sensors that tell the temperature... ones near the water pump and thats for the computer to know the temperature and there is one that runs the guage near the front of the driver side header...I wouldnt think it would be the guage sensor maybe the other one though. make sure your fans are turning on. If they are the sensors fine...I dont really know that much just tellin you what i do know.A good way to check if the water pump works is leave the cap off and let the engine get to operating temp and watch the radiator with the cap off and if the coolant starts flowing then your pump should be fine, maybe check your buddys to see how fast his pumps and compare it to your and if its slower then its probably your pump.
Ive heard bad things about them pumps on LT1's, but like you said leave the cap off and see, well i did that and it does come out but only in pulses not in a steady stream or anything.
Yeah i should get the comp checked but i dont know who can do it, im not going to a dealership though.

Alot of people have scanners, you could post it on the board and maybe drive and meet someone that lives around you... since you say it comes out in spurts i would get it checked, its not electric its cam driven so maybe thats the spurts you see, if it completly stops then goes i would have it replaced.. If i were you i would go with a meziere anyway, its a great up grade.
Pull the cover off the top of the radiator and peek in between the radiator and condenser with a flashlight. See if there is any debree there. Mine sucked up a plastic supermarket bag up in there causing me to overheat.
