car still missing!!!

Well before my, car would get up to operating temperature and then it would miss so bad you couldn't even drive it. I checked all the plugs and wires and all the connections. What could be causing this problem? coil, opti, injectors, 02's???? I just need some help because I dont want to go spend a bunch of money on nothing. Also there are no engine codes displayed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Derek.

Re: car still missing!!!

Probably an opti it sounds like what my formula dida couple years ago, when it was in open loop it ran fine. The second it warmed up and went into closed loop it would ping, hesitate, backfire and miss bad. It ended up being the opti. I would check it out and see if the optical sensor looks good still. If it looks good I would look into a LTCC. It would eliminate the cap and rotor which are often the problem with the optis. It costs a little more that an opti (well worth it IMO) and you should never have any problems again. Or you could just buy another opti and have the same problem a year or 2 down the road Check the plug wires too, a fried plug wire would make your car idle and run like crap.

Re: car still missing!!!

i had similar issues, as soon as i hit closed loop, 2 and 7 missed like crazy. a new opti cured that.

then a couple of months ago, i went with the delteq ignition system.

if youre not getting codes, it may be mechanical. try a compression test. thats what told me i dropped a valvespring during my latest misfire debacle.

i believe it's the opti im 99% sure it has nothing to do with the mechanical.
