Car starts really slow....like a dead battery

Not sure what the deal is, car is sometimes really really slow to start, will take like 2 seconds just to turn over once...then twice...then fire up really sluggishly.

I thought maybe i needed a bigger battery due to the increased pressure from the cam (had the optima Red top battery, rated at 840cca) so I went and bought a 920cca battery, had to squeeze it to fit (and screwed up my hood a bit too ) and it still seemed to start sluggislhy, but not as often.

Could it be my fuel pressure on startup? Or how about my cranking advance? It doesnt ALWAYS start slow, sometimes it'll start right up.

if its the fuel pump thats the problem the cranking speed will still be high and will keep cranking untill it finaly has enough gas. Clearly the battery is a new and charged. I would look into it as being a mechanical issue with the starter deciding to work sometimes and not others.

slow cranckin speed with plenty of juice in the battery?

The starter would be my first suspect.

My first guess too. Don't forget to check the ground and power cables down by the starter.
