car sitting for a while...

Ok...heres the back ground...

I got a 94 Z...see signature. Anyways I have about 5k on the engine. I blew a head gasket Jan 06...I had it sitting at a body shop...outside in NM weather up until this past July. 2.5 years. long story. Dont ask because it doesnt matter at this point.

I can get it up and running. However...I need to do a compression check to see which head gasket blew and replace it. Since I am getting that deep into it.......(anyone have a decent write up or how to on that? I did a search and found nothing so no one bashes me for not doing a search...I did...and got zero.)

What else should I do? I plan on droppin the engine out the bottom on the cradle and going from there. That way I can clean it all up and check all the wiring and in the mean time I will be having PCMforless tune it for the altitude I am currently at. 4k feet.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks,
James

To be honest, what you "should" do, really all depends on how much money you have and are willing to spend. I would say (after looking at your sig) don't worry about doing much and focus putting the money on the stroker.

This 383 has barely 5k miles on it and its been sitting for 2.5 years...with a blown head gasket.

What did you include in "rebuilt the top end"?

What kind of help are you asking for.... other ways to prep a car that has sat unused for an extended period of time? Hopefully you have changed the oil and the coolant, changed the fuel, etc.

yah...I replaced both head gaskets, cleaned the heads and valves off. Checked the springs. checked all the seals replace valve cover gaskets, checked all the injector o-rings, replace all intake manifold gaskets to include the tb.

I changed the coolant too...drained all the fuel, replaced fuel pump and fuel filter.

Im wondering if there is something I need to do with the suspension or rear diff fluid? Just a bit lost...got the engine taking care off and got all the interior ripped out including the dash. Dumping all the a/c and heater core and excess wiring.

While its down for the count...trying to figure out more things to do if it is necessary.

Thanks Fred.
