Unhappy car shoots blue flame

i dont know whats wrong with my car. i just installed long tube headers and removed the emission crap. i'm running dynomax bullet mufflers and side exhaust. i just put new spark plugs in 2 days ago because the drivers side fouled. well it drove fine for the first 1.5 hours tonight and then it started backfiring and poping out the drivers side and it shot a blue flame???? i hosed off the motor and took out 2 of the drivers side plugs and they look fine.

i havent had my computer programmed for the emission's delete, and i havent put a lt4 KM in.

why does it run great and then run so crappy? it feels like its not firing in all 8 cyl. anyone ever run into this problem before? i dont know what to do and the super nats start tomorrow.

problem #2. after i drive the car for a while and stop and shut it off, i can hear and see some liquid dripping onto my headers right where all 4 tubes come togeather. i'm guessing its antifreeze but i dont see where it could be comming from. i didnt shield the heater core but i can see that its not melted.

anyone???

Did you re route all your wires including the o2's? Are any of your plug wires burnt and arcing? Did you install your plug wires in the right order?

Go back and check your wiring over. Try peeking under the hood when it's dark out and looking for sparks.

we already checked and fixed the wires the 1st day the headers were on. it was running great earlier, all the wires are in stock locations. it only seems to be the drivers side

Does one header get hotter than the other?

I'd really go back through all of your wiring to include O2's and make sure nothing was fried.

think maybe i burnt my drivers side o2 wires? causing it to get a bad air fuel mix. I'll give it a look and see if everything is out of the headers way.

So you're sure the wires are not burnt? Have you checked the car for codes? Are the header primaries glowing red hot after you run it a while?

What do you mean, you "hosed off the engine"? If you literally soaked the engine bay using a water hose you could have ruined the optispark - it's very water sensitive. A bad opti would explain the misfiring.

Also, are you sure you didn't burn the heater core (I shielded mine because it sure looked like it was going to burn/melt). Can you see the liquid droping on the collector or do you just hear a sizzling sound? Are you sure it's liquid and not some wire or something else burning? If it was antifreeze I'd think you'd be able to smell the sugary sweet aroma.

Oh, are the headers coated or uncoated?

HTH (I'm running out of questions )

Ah, I've got one more question.

Did you touch the o2 sensors at all when you had them off. Any oil from your fingers will ruin the sensors. I'd think though that if the o2 sensors were not working you'd get a code.

I really think you've got some wires crossed up or burnt. OR you burned the o2 sensor wires. Did you extend them or re route them at all? If you extended them, what method did you use to lengthen the wires.

Oh, and you really should re route the plug wires, running them in the stock location is really begging for a burnt wire (if that's not what's already happened).

Okay, that's it...

I'm going to bed now.

BTW, I'll bet the car sounds awesome

they are the jet hot coated long tube headers. no they are not red, they look normal. i hose the headers, i've had the opti wet before with no problems. i know for a fact that the opti is not the problem. i just use the water to cool off the headers so i can get the plugs out. if i look from under the car u can see the dripps hitting the headers and i can hear it too, the sizzle of it. it doesnt smell much like anti becuase i have more water than antifreeze in it. the car doesnt come close to the temps it use to. i would always run at 210 but since the headers im always just over 160.

i figured it was the computer not knowing i did mods to the car.

well after i went home, i checked all my wires and they all seem fine. nothing is close to either header and no wires were burnt. i put the plugs i took out last night back in, and started it up this morning and it seemed fine. i think my computer is acting up. I'll see if having it programmed will change things

After pulling all the smog crap off, AND descreening the MAF, I don't think it would compensate too well. You should try getting it tuned... just my thought anyway

Have you noticed if the dripping and burning of fluid coincides with running the A/C.. I know on my Formula, if I run the A/C, condensation drips onto parts of my exhaust system causing it to sizzle off.

On the other part, I wish I could help but I really can't.
