car sat outside for 7 days, now wont start?
car sat outside for 7 days, now wont start?
car was outside for the last week or so, went to start it this morning, it wont fire, turns over and maybe a couple intake pops and lots of gas smell ... popped the hood, moisture everywhere... I'm thinking it wont start from the moisture under there after the last 2 days of rain....
what do I look for ??
it ran fine a week ago ...

My car did the same thing. How new are your plugs/wires/opti? My plugs and wires were shot and the colder weather killed them. After i replaced the plugs and wires my car ran like a champ!
Re: car sat outside for 7 days, now wont start?
Tried to start again today, Got a charger on the battery now...
All I get are a few intake pops, seems as if it doesnt have spark...
Tried starting fluid, NOTHING !!!!!
What to check for ???
Ran perfect a week ago... I dont get it ...
Also forgot to mention, It isnt seemed to be throwing any trouble codes...

How can I check for the spark at the coil ?
I will check to make sure the coil wire is tight
Re: car sat outside for 7 days, now wont start?
using an ohm meter to check the resistance of the coil. You should never have an infinte reading. Primary use the low side of the meter. Use jumpers on the 2 primary terminals. They are the two top slots on the plug above the coil tower. you should have a very low resistence. If the resistence is higher than 1.3 ohms replace it. Also run a jumper from the pink wire in the coil plug harness and turn the ignition to on, (engine not running). That will tell you if you are getting voltage to the coil from the battery.
Re: car sat outside for 7 days, now wont start?
If it isn't moisture problem I'd make sure that the battery is "good". If you don't have enough power you are probably just flooding the engine.
Should be pretty chilly up there in NY and you need a "good" preferably a new battery to ensure good start and run. Don't just assume that the battery is "good". Most bats really don't last any longer than their warranty and it is the easiest thing to eliminate when you are trying to track down a problem with starting. JMHO

...and on the 7th day he rested.
Anyways, I am not sure how cold it is there but its cold over here in Ohio, get some gas treatment stuff in your tank just incase there is moisture in there or cold fuel lines. Also, my starter was acting up today for some reason, it must be the cold. Check that also. Lets hope the moisture hasnt gotten to your opti

It was about 26 here today, they say about the same tommorow so its still cold out, could the moisture still be in there from it being so wet then so cold out ?
Also I have a spare coil that does work, can i just plug the spare in without bolting it to the icm ?? will that work or does it have to be bolted up?
So with a battery that has less power then it should, it would turn the car over and not start it still ??
and if it does turn out to be my opti, can I run delteq over the opti ?

Re: car sat outside for 7 days, now wont start?
MY car wouldnt start after a wp change due to moisture. I kept it in the garage and cranked it a lot to built some heat up in the engine.
I let it dry overnight and it started the next day 1st time.
