car runs like SH** in heavy rain

I have a problem with my '97 stock LT-1 Z-28 auto (120K miles). In heavy rain (i mean really hard rain only) and car washes my car runs very rough. I also get the flashing SES light (random misfires i think??). After drying out, the car will run fine. After reading the thread about the opti-direct system from EliteSparkPlugs.com I am fearing the worst with regards to my opti. Are there other things i should check first before replacing the opti? (certain sensors maybe?)

I am planning on replacing the plugs and wires anyway...should i just replace plugs, wires, and opti? (or opti-direct kit possibly).

Thanks for your help

I believe the flashing SES is a misfire. If the plugs and wires don't cure it the opti would be the probable cause. Replace the whole opti (not just cap and rotor) or buy delteq.

check for loose wires first.... maybe the moisture from rain or whatever is causing this if the wires are loose... make sure they are on the spark plugs, and where they connect to the opti all the way.... secondly i would vote for the opti getting wet and causing it... but start with the simple thigns first like plugs and wires, then move to opti
