It rained really hard here last night, and although I didn't drive though it, i'm sure the wet streets might have something to do with it. The car was fine for most of the way home, then I parked, left it for like 10 minutes and when i started it again it was running really strange. It kinda sounds like a helicopter when i accelarate. Seems like i'm missing about 50 horsepower too, I couldn't even break the tires loose in the rain. It starts and runs okay, just sounds weird, like i'm running on 6-7 cylinders, and has no power. I figured the opti got wet, and I was hoping when I got home from work today that maybe it'd be okay. But its still the same. Do opti's do this when they get wet? Will they dry out?? Any other opinions would be appreciated, hopefully it'll throw a code out and I can get it scanned.....

 

get a hair dryer and dry it out i did it to mine after it sat for 2 days and it finally started

 

Okay, sounds feasible, can't i also blow in that little pipe coming from the intake elbow? I thought i remember someone talking about that. A wet opti would make it run like this though? What makes a opti completely fail?

 

repeated doushing of it heat and just old age. burnt plug wires, bad plugs anything that could back the spark up into the opti
