Car ran bad , now wont start

About 2 months ago my a4 93 lt1 was fine, I let it sit for a month (in the below freezing michigan weather) I start it up and the car run like its on 7 cylinders, ,it would shake and run like **** under a load. When the car was in N or D it would idle fine. Now when I go to start it , it will crank but wont fire, I hear the pump working and smell gas. my coil is good. I bet this whole thing is an opti problem.

Think about it, first the car seems like it running on 7 cylinders now it wont start

any ideas? , Id hate to replace an opti when its not the problem

The first thing to do is put a plug and plug wire directly on the coil and check for spark. Then check the Opti if the coil is good. Be sure to use a good wire and plug.

You have spark where, at the coil or the plugs after the opti. Try squirting fuel into the intake and crank it over. If it starts after you squirt fuel in the intake and shuts right back off, you have fuel problems and probably the fuel pump.

probably about 1 to 2 ounces. You could also check the fuel pressure when turn the key on.
