More likely a tranny or even more likely a converter issue

Torque converter

Best thing to do is take er to a tranny shop and let them diagnose it. The Aamco here for example will visually check, road test and scan it for $34.95. But they come recommended by my Snappy guy.

it just as easily could be the cat. convertor plugged up. or fuel filter is plugged, or fuel press. is getting low. and beware of some tranny shops. they will tell you to rebuild the tranny for this sometimes, only to have it not even be related. typically, if its a tranny or conv, the rpm's will go high while the car is not accelerating. and, typically, if its a tranny problem, you can check the fluid level/color/smell to for an indication. if the fluid is low or is brown/black or smells "burnt" then Id go along with the tranny theory. but for now my vote is either low fuel press. while accelerating or plugged cat. conv..

if you can, pull your exhaust loose right before the cat and take it down the road, easy way to eliminate exhaust restriction, check your pipes, any of them bent or crimped?
hows the air filter looking?
replaced fuel filter lately?
don't happen to have autotap or datamaster do you? have you datalogged?

Please explain how these items would allow the engine to rev up but the vehicle not move

Assuming that is the symptom.

You need to re-read the original post, it's not that the car is sitting still, he says it looses pull, as in loss of horsepower.

The ecm is set to shift at certain points based on mph, throttle position, and MAF/MAP readings. If it sees the tps is sitting wide open, it's going to run the tranny out to redline before shifting. If the motor can't make it to redline, the ecm will hold then shift to the next gear once it sees it's getting there. I don't feel I have to learn you on these things, just think you based an assumption on misreading his problem.

Since he's loosing hp in the higher rpm, I would first look for restrictions, you know you need air / fuel / spark in order to run, he didn't mention anything about misfires... soooo check for air / fuel problems.

Im sticking with my orig. thought and that is clogged cat. conv. or plugged fuel filter. Jeff already explained what the easiest way to check for that is and thats disconect he exh. somwhere before the cat. converter.
