Car now has low idle

I just got everything back on from a head gasket failure.

I adjusted the rocker arms while engine was running, 1/4 turn after "clacking" stopped. The engine seemed to slow down after each time of doing it.

Well, I took it out for a spin, and backing out of the driveway, it's idle is lower than before. Then in drive with no gas, is barely moves.

No surging, engine sounds fine, not rough.

Are the rockers over tightened? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Sounds like they maybe too tight, might want to try the "not running" method and see if that helps.

I did at first, had trouble, maybe it was me. But I asked on this board, and was told the best way was running. Loosen til you hear clack, then tighten until you don't hear it, then 1/4 turn more.

But, I may go back to it. Thanks.

How does it feel when you get it on it?

Well, this is literally the first time driving after the fix, and I just drove around the neighborhood. I was going to go easy for a little while, then increase as I go

Its been 2 months since driving it, but seems fine I guess.

But I know I could idle at least a few miles per hour before. Seems like this is an indication that something isn't quite kosher, maybe not.

What about the idle screw on your TB? Was that changed at all? Is you IAC hooked up?

I didn't touch the TB, except to clean it, which doesn't mean the screw didn't get accidentally get turned if that is possible (just by handling it?) I'll check that out though.

I broke the little black tube (emissions canister purge tube) that goes from the fuel lines, all the way around the intake to something bolted to the intake . Sorry I don't have my manual in front of me. Does it go to IAC? Can't remember.

No that doesnt go to the IAC, the IAC is on the bottom of the TB.

you may just want to readjust the IAC. But yes, tightening down too far will slow idle down.

a 1/4 turn is conservative at best, the service manual says 1 turn down from zero lash. I went 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn with no problems.
