Since I did the engine swap, my guages have been of. When the speedo says I'm going 70, I'm really going 55. I still have v6 guages and I think when it says I'm going 115 I'm really going like 90-95. Well, when the guages hit 115 the entire car lurches, kinda like if you went to drive a manual for the first time and rocked it. Does anybody know what could bedoing this? I'm buying z28 guages soon, but I want to figure this out...I was wondering if there was some sort of speed limiter that ran off the guages (cause I thought the 3.4's speed limiter was at like 114 or 115 or something like that)...Any thoughts on what this could be?

 

It sounds like the car you got the motor from came from the factory with a speed limiter. If the car didn't come with Z-rated tires from the factory, then it had one. You can just program it out.

 

I know my 96 HAD a limiter on it..wouldnt go over 120...you just need to get your PCM reprogramed and it will go away..it is in the PCM...NOT the guages.
