Cool Car lower on pass.side, and fishtailing fixed.

Well,I got tired of having my car leaning almost 3/4 of an inch down on the pass. side,so I went to a local tire place and they installed two lead screw-in spacers into the coil spring(pass.side).Now the car rides level, and no more fish tailing after the second gear bangs into place. Also, when a passenger gets into the car,it does not sink like it used to on that side. The 2 spacers must be oposite of each other for them to work right .Hope this helps somebody.(Happy camper here).

Sounds to me as though the spring is bad. I'm not trying to be a smart *** however, don't you think you should replace the spring? They are cheap, easy to replace and I would be worried the spacers are just a bandaid for a problem that will continue to deteriorate. I admit I don't know all that much about springs. Maybe the spacer trick will hold up over time?

just my .02

I don't know, man. I've got the same problem and have replaced shocks and springs to no avail.
Don't get me wrong, I'd be a bit apprehensive about the spacers, but hey if it worked for Fatdog, good for him.

Spacers like that are hard on springs. It isolates the load to a small area and can cause metal fatigue. Not the best solution, IMO.

I have heard that GM made the driver side higher to compensate for the fact that most of the time only a driver rides in the car. I'm not saying that this is true, but my 88' caprice the 89 cutlass and my firebird all have this and i know for a fact that the caprice sat almost an inch higher on the driver side since day one.

As far as GM's theory, not everyone rides alone most of the time.
