Car keeps dying

Alright so I've got the car actually running .. sort of. The car would start and then 2 mins later it would just die. After a few starts and it doing this its decided it doesn't want to start at all. I hadn't started it for about 5 days and decided today I'll see if it starts, fuel pump primed, turn of the key and instant start. It ran for about 2 minutes then died. I started it right back up and did the same thing. Now the damn thing will not start again. also when it's idling every so often it will backfire, not to bad but still backfire... I'm baffled.. anyone have any suggestions? so far on the other forums I"ve heard that its an icm issue or the opti but I thought I would get yall's thoughts on it?

Have you scanned it for codes?

Have you checked the fuel pressure?

When I had a similar problem, it was with the opti harness. Replacing it solved the issue.

I would check for codes, first.

Do you have any buds with LT1s? That's how I figured out it was the opti harness on mine before buying a new one. Just swapped it out for one we knew worked.

Even if the engine shuts down, the fuel pressure should not immediately go to "0".

With your ignition turned on, the fuel pump will be running. If your car dies, and the fuel pump doesn't have any pressure, then its a fuel problem.

When you turn your key, before you crank the engine, listen for a "buzz" - that's your fuel pump.

Id say opti. I had a problem with mine running until it got warm the it would shut down. had the low res and high res codes for the opti so i swapped it out and have not had any problems since.

Yeah but what makes no sense to me what so ever is that I can go out every single morning and start it right up then it dies, then start it again it has a little trouble then it will die. try it a third time and nothing. Then I can do the same thing the next morning.... It just baffles me. It all started doing this after I put new O2 sensors and extensions in and drove it

You need to find a buddy with a scanner.

my cousin has the same problem.

car was driving fine. next day on the way to my house 30 minutes it kinda skipped a beat then drove fine but with ses light and then it drove on the way home the next day.

a few days later it shut off of him after only 15 minutes or earlier and then he barely mdade it home.

now it starts only in full cold up to a few minutes then shuts off and wont start again.

No updates about to swap optis and opti harness and see if that works out, but we will see in a few days... new opti should be here tomorow so we will find out here in the next week when I get a day off... but still no updates!
