Car isn't starting...help

I have a 91 camaro as a beater. It has been sitting in the driveway for 8-9 months now without being started. I went out and tried to start it today and it wont start. Its a 305 TBI, so I sprayed some starting fluid in it and it fired for a second but quit. I'm thinking its fuel related. It has 1/2 tank of gas in it, could the fuel go bad this quick? If so, would it help to put in some new gas? I dont smell any gas at the throttle body, so it may not be getting any fuel at all. Any ideas would be appreicated. Thanks in advance.

Gasoline starts to go bad after 6 months of just sitting. It's always recommended to put a fuel stabilizer in there whenever you plan on storing a car (even if storing means just sitting there). More than likely the fuel started to gum up and clogged the fuel lines.

I doubt that its the fuel. I'm surprised that your battery worked.

I took the battery out...which was a bad battery in the first place. I just got a new battery yesterday and it was a nice day so i figured I would try and start it. It cranks fine, but wouldnt' start. So i got some starting fluid and sprayed in the throttle body. It fired with that...but just until all of the starting fluid burnt up. It didnt' seem to be getting any fuel at all. So I'm thinking either bad fuel? or the fuel pump is bad? Any suggestions on what to do? Would putting some new gas in do any good if what is in there is bad?
