car idles like crap with coolant temp sensor hooked up

well a while ago my coolant temp sensor wire somehow hot ripped out of the plug, well yesterday i finaly got around to fixing it and now it runs like crap now that its reading it, while the wire was off the car ran decent and idled great, but before the wire was ripped out it ran like crap after warming up too. it only happens during open loop, is this something that can be fixed during the tune? im about to send this car down the freakin road because its one thing after another! im prety sure i have an opti problem also as the car breaks up sometimes, over 5K but if i go 80% throttle over 5K it doesnt break up! man this car is frustrating! oh and to boot my service engine light flickers on over 5K!

Which sensor are we talking about? Is this the one in the head or out of the water pump. The head sensor only gives the reading to the gauge. The water pump sensor is used by the pcm.

The one in the head could make the check gauges light come on, but it shouldn't cause the car to run bad.

Exactly. If the car is shooting an SES light at times, it would be well worth it to get it scanned.

Must be coincidence. The temp sensor in the head has absolutely nothing to do with engine performance. You need a scanner.
