Car Hot = Starter Don't Turn So Good

When everything is cold, the car fires up flawlessly. When I try to start it after it's been warmed up, the starter seems like it doesn't want to crank. The battery is new and fully charged.

Is this a symptom of a bad starter? Any tests I can run on it?

Thanks,

Finn

Does it make a chirping noise? When I went to an aluminum flywheel, might would make a chirping noise on a hot start. I cured thsi by shimming the starter away from the block.

No chirping noise, just a RRRRRrrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrrrRRRRRR, like when your battery is low. Maybe when it's hot it's drawing high amps -- could that be a sign that the starter is bad?

heat is a big culprit in making a starting not start so well, try to fab up a heat shield around the starter and youll rid yourself of the hot start problem

No need for a heat shield if you're not running LT headers. Sounds like it's time for a new starter.
