Question Car has trouble starting?

Last couple of days when i first go to start my car, it takes a long time for it to start, at least 30 seconds of cranking. It cranks smooth, but when i let off the key, the motor stumbles like it's trying to start. I will eventually start and runs fine, no loss of power, no misses. And when i go to start the car later, it has no problem. What's going on here? I think it may be something ignition related cuz i can smell fuel in the exhuast when trying to crank. I've replaced the opti, coil, wires, plugs, and fuel filter 5 months ago, so i don't think it's them. Any suggestions?

When you kill the car...does it lose all of it's fuel pressure? I am having a similar problem but mine is just not holding pressure after you kill, which I assume is the fuel pump.

if the fuel pump is not bad could be a relay these cars when the key is turned on primes the system and then shuts off then when oil pressure build up it kicks the pump on again. probably what is happening if the pump is good is your relay that primes the pump is not coming on and then when you spin the engine for so long it build oil pressure kicking the pump on and finally starting

Can you do a search on my posts??

I created that very same problem on my car by accident and fixed it then recreated it and fixed it again on command.

In my case it was the Temp Coolant Sensor. Dont get me wrong my sensor runs fine but I changed its output to fool the PCM into thinking the car was running 15 degrees warmer than it was.

Since the sensor is so cheap... 9 dollars or less.. why dont you start by replacing it? read my posts I have several ones that talk about what I did. on a second thought... check the conection to this sensor.. maybe its a burnt/broken/loose wire too.

it was replaced less than 6 months ago. i'm taking it to a mechanic tonite, he says it may be the fuel pump.
