Car drives horribly, tranny problems?

Hey guys, could really use some help. My car is acting up horribly. I drive a 97' z28 LT1. The other night this gettoed out caprice wanted to play down a long stretch so I romped on it until I passed him. Although I smelt something burnt, and not the tires. Ever since its been acting up really bad, especially when it rains (probably just coincidental). Im thinking the tranny is having issues. Today I drove home from work and the motor started shaking like crazy like it was going to give out. When I hit the gas to get going, it would barely accelerate and shakes/sounds horrible. It acted this way the whole way home. My SES light is always on since Ive removed the cats, but today it was blinking. So Im guessing tranny as the car takes forever to shift, and when it does it shift its very awkwardly, much harsher than usual. Im gonna mess with it tomorrow and see if I cant find the culprit, but if I come up with nothing I guess I'll take it to the car shop that does free scans (autozone, pep boys?) Anyway, any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated.

If you've got an ses, it's a no brainer to take it to get it scanned... no sense in having all these guys guess... some guesses totally bizarre... at what it could be.

Start with the scan.

Check for water in your gas, and make sure your gas cap is sealing.
