Car doesent idle
Car doesent idle
When at stop lights or stop signs the car drops to about 500 RPMs and the oil pressure drops really low and sometimes it dies. although other times it will return to normal idle. today when it died it took quite a while to start back up. could this be the o2 sensors going bad? maybe the opti. any help would be great.
Re: Car doesent idle
I noticed you asked a question regarding your idle back in April but you still haven't provided any information what so ever regarding your vehicle. Year, tranny, mods etc.
You also don't mention the things you have checked so far. Like fuel pressure, EGR, IAC, vacuum level, battery voltage while the car is running, DTC's present, the last time the engine had a good tune up, conversely how old some components are, if the engine ever ran good, what happened leading up to the first incident etc......
All of this will be helpful. Keeps us from asking 1000 questions and you not getting what you want.

Re: Car doesent idle
ok it is a 96 trans am M6 with hooker long tubes. no cats. cutout, and an obd1 conversion. it has new plugs and wires. i have deleted the EGR, and while the car is running the voltage is normal. the problem only happens every once in a while. most of the units in my engine are the stock parts. so they are old 83,000 miles. the engine ran fine and strong before this happend. there was no leading up to the first incident it just died one day at a stoplight and has been doing it on occasion since then. if there are more things i can check let me know and i will do them to see if that helps.
Re: Car doesent idle
Check for vacuum leaks, dirty air filter and possibly a dirty idle air control (IAC). The IAC is located on the bottom passanger side of the TB (look for the electrical connector). Be careful cleaning the IAC as it's a delicate valve.
Re: Car doesent idle
the car only does this after i run open headers. could this be caused by the computer not reading something right, will a PCMforless tune or MAD Z28 tune help this problem at all
