I have a 97 SS camaro. Ok for the last two days my car has done well for 30 min but after that it dies. It will start to sputter then just die. I put my car in park after i got it started, and reved the engine up to 4K and it sputtered after it got there to 3 K and then just died. I had not moved my foot on the pedel it just lost something. And my temp was at the 3/4 mark on the gauge. It brings up codes for my egr being taken off and a code 1371 engine missfire or ignition system. My fuel pump does turn on and pressurise the system. Any ideas what is going on.

 

check the coil or the icm. there are resistance levels on the coil. not sure what it is. sounds like one of those items are getting hot and puking on you. look on shoebox's site for locations of those items if you dont know.

 

Could be the crank sensor within the opti..had similar problem with it heating up and breaking down in my new MSD opti. Car would run for ~20 mins and die and would not start until it cooled back down. Just a suggestion...not sure how you could check it tho!
