Car Died!!
Car Died!!
On the way to the gym my car died at an intersection. Smoke came bellowing out from under the hood. I tried restarting the car but it seemed to not fire (no spark).
After a couple of minutes, the car started and then died again after a minute. I checked the coil wire and the inside of the boot at the opti end was burnt. Does anyone think it could just be a loose coil wire to the opti?

Re: Car Died!!
Relieve all the pressure in the fuel rail at the schrader valve. Then cycle KOEO and then off about 4 or 5 times. Then check the schrader valve for pressure again.
Since the fuel changed recently, fuel pumps are dying like you wouldn't believe. One shop near me did 5 yesterday alone. They usually get 2 or 3 in a month.
good luck

speedygonzales,
Thanks for the suggestion, I didn't know of that problem lately with the fuel change.
I figured out what the problem was. There was corrosion on the optispark coil input. I guess this caused a short circuit or high current draw and burnt the coil wire at the opti.
I cleaned the contact off with a pipe cleaner and sandpaper. Had a spare spark plug wire sitting around so I used that to connect the coil to opti and the car fired right up. New motor on the way so I am going to be replacing the opti.
