Car cutting out under heavy acceleration...

The other day while driving my car I tried to get out in front of some traffic on the interstate and the car started cutting out. It was almost like I was hitting the rev limiter but I was only at 3Kish rpm's. I drove around a while longer to try to get it to do it again. It seems that it only does it when the engine has been running for a long time. I have had some suggestions that it could be my wires are starting to go bad since they are stock and also that maybe my coil is going bad. It's hard for me to tell what could be the problem since its so sporatic(sp?). It doesnt do it consistently...just enough to irritate me.

I've had mine hiccup like that twice in six months. There are a few guys around here that'll give a good educated guess. Until you break it though, that's all it'll be.

yeah, this will just be an educated guess. i would change the plugs and wires. high rpm misses many times have to do with the coil. also, the opti is a common failure. i would save the opti for last because it is the most expensive. good luck
