Car Busted Coolant All Over My Garage

So here is the story - 94 LT1 Z28 Convertible about 75 K on it.

Leave the golf course Tuesday night to drive home, notice the low coolant light is on, this happened last year, so no big deal have coolant at home to fill it.

Get home and back in into the garage and open the hood. When I get out to actually lift the hood up I notice my driveway is covered in a wet substance, so I feel it, it feels like coolant has the clear color to it and then I notice it is leaking right around my battery in my garage from under my car.

So I lift the hood and notice that there is coolant on my battery and right around where the coolant cap is, not much but enough to notice it with the naked eye.

Nothing I could do then so I hop in the car with my wife to go pick up my truck, on my way to pick up my truck I notice that down my street there is a coolant mark from my car, like 10 feet of just a web substance, keep driving to get the truck and notice that whenever I turned in my Camaro that the coolant would just gush out.

Looking to get it fixed soon but first would like to know the the heck happened and what it is? If anyone can give me some insight as to why perhaps it leaked like that or any potential engine problems that could have caused it I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks
Mike

So you continued to drive it after you found coolant on the garage floor and determined that it was gushing coolant?

Of course you already know not to drive without coolant lest your engine freeze up---so I will just give you one possibilty: It might be that your radiator cap is shot. With a bad cap the coolant will boil at a lower temperature and boil over. I would try a new cap first. JMHO

No I did not drive it with it gushing

No I did not drive it after I found it gushing, I took my wife's car to get my truck.

I saw a few marks on the garage floor but wasn't worried about it because they seem to come and go, it wasn't a lot, like I left the camaro in the garage for over a week I would see a small mark

Check the cap and also check to see if the plastic radiator tank has cracked. You might also remove the battery and overflow tank and see if the tank and hose are OK.

sorry for the late reply

figured I would reply to let everyone who responded know what happened

I ran water through my coolant system and saw that to the right of the battery the cap that capped off either the radiator or coolant reserve had come loose, the plastic clip popped off.

I put it back on, turned it on with water and it start fine with no leak, filled it with coolant and within about 2 days it was back to normal.

just something I couldn't see and didn't know to check until my buddy came over and told me to check it
