Car almost impossible to start, dies if I punch it. HELP PLEASE!

Ok, I've had this car for a year and it's getting to be more hassle than it's worth.

The car is usually difficult to start, but not always. It's just as bad hot as cold. It cranks and cranks, stumbles, tries to catch over and over, but never gets fully "lit."

If I punch it from a stop it dies. It smells like gas, like it's flooding. All injectors tick fine with the stethoscope. I have a new Walbro intank pump (255) that fixed the hard start problem for a week. The old pump was losing pressure too rapidly. The problem started after a 270 mile road trip this weekend, and got worse on the way back. I also pulled the inline pump after I replaced the intank.

I also have new (less than 6 months old) cats, opti, ICM, coil, plugs and wires, and a brand new fuel filter. I have 40 psi of pressure at idle, no gas in the FPR, and it does not bleed down any pressure when off, even after a couple hours. If i Pull the vac line off the FPR pressure goes to 50PSI.

What could this be? Should I just sell this POS and buy another Mustang?

It throws no codes, even when it dies, and runs fine, all the way to redline. I'm as mad as a hornet and confused as well.

What do I need to do or check? I checked for water in the gas and found nothing. I've never run it lower than half a tank of gas either.

Thanks for any help,
Chris

The fuel filter was only 6 months old, but I changed it yesterday and it's still doing it. Sometimes it starts right up, and it appears to do it SLIGHTLY more often when it's cold than hot. Priming the pump a few times does not help, in fact it seems to make it worse, like it's flooded and can't spark the mix.

check your injectors lift them up and with the KOEO see if any are leaking.

also check your coil wire see if it's cracked or messed up were it connects to the opti.

If the injectors were leaking, wouldn't the fuel pressure "leak down" after the car sat for a while? It keeps 40PSI for a couple hours, so I doubt they're leaking. I bought the stethoscope yesterday and I could hear them all ticking (though some sounded a litle different than some others, they all ticked at the same pace.)

Anyone else?

Is it possible I just got a tank of crappy gas at one of the stops on my ~600 mile road trip?

Yeah, that wire is pretty weird, it never shows signs of corrosion or arcing though. I always check it whenever I have problems, but it's always pretty firmly in place. I might try "hotwiring" the coil 12v+ to battery and see if that does anything, it would at least help eliminate any ignition switch or wiring issues right?

Anything, or anyone else?
