Car is acting up need help..
Alright here is the problem. It seems that my car when i first start it sometimes will start to idle funny and then when i go to take off it runs funny like almost feels like it wants to die but will eventually smooth out. Today was running fine but then i let it sit for about an hour then went to start it and it was idling real bad like sounded like it was goin to die then took off and didnt run good at all. What could this be?? It doesnt have this problem all the time though sometimes runs perfect. Also my cat has like a weird vibrating noise coming from it and im prolly goin to be puttin on my catback this week so would it hurt to just hollow it out?? If you think my car just needs a tune up plugs wires etc i'll prolly be doin that here in a few weeks well lt1 gods please help me
I hate to see people spend money they don't need to. Although some things do need to be done on a regular basis.
Start by checking things and cleaning. The EGR sticking is notorious for sporadic behaviour. One time ok other times car won't idle. Several ways to check, compress the dia. by hand and see if it feels rough. Take the hose of and plug it and see if it runs better. Remove it and clean the carbon off of it.
Pull the plugs, they can tell you a world of information.
Try doing a leakdown test.
Check and clean the IAC. Clean the throttle body while your at it.
TPS's go bad often, think about replacing it.
Replace the fuel filter if you haven't already done so.
Check the fuel pressure at idle and WOT.
Scan for codes, not all codes will light the SES.
O2's are good for about 50000 miles, if older think about replacing them.
Lastly the wires plugs and then the dreaded opti. Don't buy just the cap and rotor from local store, get the whole unit from a source of GM parts. If you need to, contact Vandevere Buick to buy it from them. The non vented is a little more but the bearing is what goes bad a lot.
Good luck and remember to check first then buy parts if you have to. Don't just shot gun.
Good luck I have a 94 also with 135000 .
