Car Acting Up

I have a 95 Trans-Am with 129000 miles on it. When i bought it 6000 miles ago the guy said he had just changed the spark plugs and that the opti was previously replaced.

100 miles ago i put a can of seafoam in the gas tank only. Today when i was driving the car started shaking really bad at low rpms in 6th gear. In the other gears it seems to just hesitate a lot and then go after a few seconds. Also my exhaust started popping, which it never has done before.

I just replaced the fuel filter not to long ago. I have LT headers and no cats. Anyone have any clues?

Re: Car Acting Up

does it shake more when you floor it? Does it shake in all gears when you floor it? Does the ehaust pop when you are on it or only when you let off the gas?

Re: Car Acting Up

it only shakes in 6th gear around 1500 rpms (4.10gears) The rest of the gears it just kinda hesitates then it will go. The exhaust pops when im coming to a stop or going slow threw my subdivision, it even pops after i get home and its just idleing in the driveway.

Re: Car Acting Up

Most likely the issue is ignition then. That darn opti is usually the suspect when it comes to electrical problems. I replaced mine and then had to replace it again after my water pump went bad like two months later because it leaked into the opti. They are a really bad design!

Get a scanner.

Check 02s
plug wires
coil
icm
lastly replace opti

Mine did this when my home made 02 extensions finally crapped out.

Re: Car Acting Up

The opti won't always throw a code.

Re: Car Acting Up

stuck open injector??? that would explain the plug smelling like gas and would cause the exhaust to pop
