Hmmm, I'd still give the advantage to the OEM 4 bolt. Note this is a 'personal preference' as I have no viable data or reference to fall back on.

when we cracked open my 97 SS it had a 4 bolt then i scored another 4 bolt vette block and it lasted 1500miles before the wristpin backed out and trashed the block, then i put a 2 bolt in and it lasted 150 miles before it spun a rod (i didnt touch it just slapped it in) Big mistake on my part!

I would be afraid to put any power to a straight 4-bolt. Especially something that comes on as strong as nitrous. I've seen a MTI built 383 on a 100shot which had straight 4-bolt caps cracked in half. Customer was under the impression via his recept and by request he had splayed caps.
I also don't like them based on the popular opinion how the outside bolts are fastened tapped into the webing.

Ive seen some serious power put to 2 bolt blocks with studs. Look at an LT1 4 bolt block sometime.

What's the difference between a LT4 4-bolt and a LT1 4-bolt?

Like I said take a look at them sometime, the webbing where the outer bolts go through is not very thick and in some cases when the outer bolts are drilled and tapped it actually breaks out towards the bottom.

That is exactly why I won't use a straight 4-bolt block. Sorry I got off track a bit in what you were saying. I'm a retard that early in the morning. :\
