Canton Valve Covers, Custom Alt Bracket, pics inside

First off this motor is running an ATI-917271 damper that is Aluminum and is 6 3/4". The belt I am running is a gatorback 4060625 or 6pk1585. It fits very tight and has plenty of adjustability. Here are the pics:

Thats interesting, I thought spending $200 for some valve covers would insure that they would work and fit like stock but i guess not. I sure hope i don't run into these issues or i hope someone from canton fixes them before i finish my motor.

I'm amazed that those are hitting. I though Canton specifically designed those valve covers to NOT hit the alternator on the LT1.

bringing this back from the dead. I just ran into the same problem with my Canton's. Good thing I've got access to a machinist as well, looks like I'll be having him make some similar pieces tomorrow.

for those that don't know

You can either make the brackets like those or you can just buy the smaller amp alternator offered at any parts store and it will bolt right on with no mods

Or just send the valve covers to Canton and they'll fix it for free instead of messing around with brackets and smaller alternators.

Mine didn't fit at all and I chose to beat the crap out of them to clear both the alt. and Pro-Mags as the inside was just barely scraping the rocker.
