Canton pickup work with the stock oil pump?

It was reccomended that I get a Canton pan for my 383. I've already bought a stock GM pump & pickup under the impression that I was going to run my stock pan.

But, if I get a Canton pan, I need to get the Canton pickup to go with that. But, will the canton pickup work in the stock pump?

Dave, I am in the same boat as you I think. I am considering the Canton pan also. I will be running a blueprinted Melling pump and need to know the same info about the pickup. Also, does anyone knows if the newer version will clear the AS&M y-pipe.

Get ready to do some fabricating. I had to beat my a canton pan a quarter of an inch in order for the canton pickup to fit. You will most likely have problems with the dipstick fitment as well.

Mine fit on the melling with no problems at all. Also went into the pan with no issues. go figure must be a case to case issue.
