Canton Oil Pan Problems..??

Ok, this is just following up on my Oil Leak post..

Has anybody had any problem what so ever w/ the 1" plug that canton puts on the passenger side of the oil pan. (on top of the lip) When I got my canton pan I never checked to see if it was tight(just assumed it was), so am hoping that is my problem.

For those w/ Canton Pans, Did you have to tighten that plug? Was it already Tight? Have any of you had a problem with it leaking right there?

I'm really hoping this is my problem, and should know tomorrow, will post the results, but am curious to see if anybody else has had a simular problem.

Haven't put the pan in yet, but it seems as though NONE of the fittings are tight on my pan....I would check it for sure.

I am putting the pan in on Saturday, what procedure did you use to put yours in? Any hints?

I put my pan on when I put the motor in so it was really easy. But you can take it out by using a 4x4 thats about a foot long underneath the crank and timing chain cover and lift the motor high enough to drop the pan. I don't recommend doing this. But know a few that have and it has worked for them. If you do it, just make sure everything is secure and make sure it's not gonna fall.

I have the canton pan and I also forgot to check that. I also have an oil leak, I loose about 1/2 a quart every ~1200 Miles so its not all that bad espeically since the Pan and Filter holds about 7 quarts. I was told that I should have pulled that fitting out and wrapped it in deflon tape and then screwed it back in tight and it would solve the problem.

Currenty, I have longtubes on the car and I would have to remove the passener header a bit to get to this bolt so I am leaving it like that for now cuz it does not leak enough to justify me taking that header almost completely off and moving it to the side and disconnecting the Y pipe (its too much a pain in the as$) But when I change my plugs, I think I will have to remove one of the primaries from my Grotyohann Long Tubes and then I will fix the leak but that is a couple of Months down the line.

Let me know if that fixes your problem after you check it and put it back on there tightly with some kinda sealant.

Thanks,
Claude

I plan on trying to fix it tomorrow morning. What size is that plug anyway. I bought a 1/2" allen wrench, so I'm hoping thats it.
