Canton oil pan issue
Just wanted to say that i bought the new revised Canton oil pan kit about a month ago also. I already have my new motor in the car but haven't hooked everything up yet. I didn't put the sensor in yet because my old one is broke. You know how that goes. I did get a call yesterday and today from Jill at Nu-Tek and they said they informed me on this problem. They also left me a message today and said that they have a solution. I was not in my office at that time when she called me back. I'll find out tomorrow what they say. All i have to say is great customer service. Hopefully i didn't get one of the bad batch. I probably did though. I'll post tomorrow what they say and i'll order my new sensor now and see what happens.
The pan fits fine. I don't have any issues hitting the steering rack. I also though don't have the transmission in. But it still looks like their is clearance. I still haven't checked to see if i got one of the bad batch as far as the oil level sensor.
I'll keep you posted.

I have an Canton pan on my car. Things I ran into:
First, the dispstick tube would not go all the way in. It would stick out an easy 1" from being all the way in. This was from the oil pan bolting right up with no problems, but the railing would not allow the dipstick tube to go all the way down the hole. I did not find this out until after the motor was in, headers bolted up, tranny bolted up, etc... had to chop off the end of the dipstick tube to get it to the stock position so I could accurately measure my oil level. The problem. By cutting off the end of the dipstick tube, the dipstick itself had nothing holding it place internally and it got ripped apart by the rotating assembly. MAKE SURE IT DOES GO IN ALL THE WAY OUT OF THE CAR, if your rebuilding it. Those few moments can save a lot of head aches.
Secondly, it rests on my k-member. That always bugged me. I am replacing the stock k-member with a BMR k-member setup for a Canton oil pan since they decided to come up for a fix for Canton's problem with it hitting the k-member.
Thirdly, could they not put the oil sending unit somewhere else vs hanging out the side of the thing.

The tube is not gonna fit. PERIOD! Either it goes in, or it doesn't. The interference of pan to tube is 1/4-5/16". Canton will not correct the problem, cuz they refuse to accept there is a problem. If one were to compare the 'V' area of the stock pan to the Canton , it would be easy to spot the difference in the size of the 'V' clearance. It becomes an instant 'no brainer'. At least for anyone OTHER than Canton anyway.

I ran into the oil dipstick problem also in my oil pan. The thing is my motor, headers and everything else is also bolted up. Can't you just cut the dipstick a little and won't it be fine? Cause this is what i have done. The dipstick is still bolted to the block and i really don't think it will move if it's bolted up. What's other peoples suggestions on this.

Nothing at all. What would they give me, a pickup? A windage tray? Something that would require me to take out my motor?
Just told them they need to do a little better research next time.

My correspondence (phone and letter) was about the 1st of July of 02. They played 'dumb' to my informing them of the problem. Very sincere, professional and helpful, even sent me a replacement pan. Of what value though, same crap as B4. Would have pulled out some hair, but didn't figure it would grow back!
Has anyone got their oil pan back from Canton yet??!?!?!
They told nu-tec that they were going to "fix 'em the same day they get 'em" and have a "quick turn around." HUMPH!
Apparently, Canton didn't take customer service and quick turn around time in consideration when they decided to save a few bucks and ship them via freaking MULE TRAIN by way of the scenic route.
Meanwhile, I still can't drive my car.
Had I known that a company that charges so much for an oil pan couldn't "afford" to spring for 2 day shipping; I would have gladly paid for it myself.
